mods... if this is absolutely the wrong place for this. please let me know.
those who need it will come looking for it. If you wanna make this

try this
so this is how i came up with the block i saw on the internet. its kinda like making a quarter log cabin, then turning on point, hacking off the triangles and adding plain ones back on.
be gentle ...
ive never done this before

materials per block
8- 2.5” strips 4.5” up to 12.5” long.
1- 4.5”x4.5” square background.
1- 9” square cut diagonally into 2 triangles.
1-sew strip to square, iron

2-add second strip, iron

see where this is going?
3-keep adding strips- four per side for a total of eight.

(i kinda trim off extra long bits as i go. it’s not very square

)
4- line up corner along a line on cutting board

5- using 45 degree line on your ruler line up vertically along the top of the white square. ( that makes no sense?)

6-cut along that line. repeat on the other side
7- the strip should now be 6” wide

8- take background triangles and line up along cut strip, leave wee ‘ears’ over the ends

9- sew both sides and iron and have a drink!
10-VERY IMPORTANT!!
if when you measure to square up you are slightly “off” because you are a terrible quilter and don’t pay any attention to consistent seam allowances.
DO not worry.

within reason of course.
