So I made a dress the other day to have seamless straps because my machine doesn't like to make pretty seams. I used plain black fabric and misted some bleach water to make a cool effect on it. Well I left it in the dryer and the lady that is living with us did laundry. She hung the dress up by just one strap. It was a heavy knit and completely stretched the strap almost 6 inches longer than it was. Is there a way to unstretch it? Can it be fixed without cutting it and adding a seam? Here you can see how bad the damage is.

Hmmm, try washing it again on warm and see if it will relax a bit.

Otherwise, maybe cut the strap and hand stitch it into a bow? There's a couple ways I can think of that you could do it, so I guess play around a bit before settling on a method.

Yikes! Why would anyone hang a garment up by just one strap??

I'd wash it again in warm or hot water and toss it in the dryer until it's dry. That should get most of the stretch out, if any is left, soak that part of the dress and lay it flat to dry.
