These are just various cupcakes I've done for parties and such over the last while.  Most of them are frosted with buttercream and embellished with fondant, marzipan or sugarpaste flowers/shapes.

Marzipan rose, pink sponge.

For a kid who's crazy about tictacs!

Yes, I made them from fondant or sugarpaste shaped into flower shapes rather than piped. I still don't know how to pipe flowers, that's on my to-learn list!

Aw thank you, but no I don't do it professionally at all, I would be afraid it might take the fun out of it if I did!  I just do it as a hobby, I got into it sort of by accident, I was never really interested in sugarcraft until recently.

My grandmother was a professional cake maker, and she used to make the most insane cakes, mostly for weddings and kids' birthdays. She stopped doing it a very long time ago, and she recently sent me some of her books and a tin of little odds and ends she used to use, so I decided to have a go and ended up addicted!

This pic has icing flowers that she made over 30 years ago - still intact, they were in the tin she gave me! Hers totally put mine to shame...

Those are really beautiful!  How nice that your grandmother encouraged you to follow in her footsteps.

It is, I've a way to go before I'm anywhere near as good as she was, but I think she's happy that someone from the family has taken an interest in something that was once her passion Smiley
