This was created for a local exhibition with the title "Beauty and the Macabre". I bought a couple of these glass dome displays at a charity shop and knew I wanted to use one in some way for this exhibition. It had a truly hideous fake flower arrangement in there before...I'll spare you the photo Cheesy

I had a hard time thinking of something that was both beautiful and also macabre, I kept thinking of one or the other until I decided on the skull image for the spots. I wanted it to otherwise look just like a Victorian display.

The ladybird (ladybug) is all paper with pipecleaners inside the legs for support. I tried to make some of the ridges underneath and the legs as accurate as I could.



I covered the wooden base with old disctionary pages and them tissue paper torn into strips, then watercoloured. The ladybird is on a lovely patch of moss, twigs and leaves.
