'She with the most fabric wins'

I saw this quilt pattern a couple years ago while on holidays and loved it right away but I actually left the store without it because I felt I'd already spent enough on crafts.  When I mentioned it to my husband, he told me to go right back in and buy it because he just knew that when we left town the next day, I'd be lamenting the fact I hadn't bought it.  I'm so glad I listened to him!

I used a number of techniques to add the features to the ladies.  Basic applique stitch around the hair, shirt and skirt.  Straight stitch highlighted with markers to create the arms.  Acrylic paint for the eyes and mouth.  The caption was done with a marker but I wish, in hindsight, that it was darker as it's a little hard to read from a distance.

The caption:

The 'winner':                                                            2nd place:

The 'loser' but to be politically correct I should probably call her 3rd place:

I used material from my own stash for the 'stacks' and the ladies outfits but I wanted to follow the same colors as the pattern showed for the background, purple and green borders so I had to buy those.  I love how colorful it is.
