I can't believe how long it is since I've posted on Craftster! I really should do something about that ...

Anyway, I finished a piece the other day that I'm really happy with, and I just wanted to post it here. It's an ombre-effect embroidery sampler.

Here's a basic guide to the stitches I used:

There's also a full tutorial over on my blog (http://needleandcloth.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/ombre-embroidery-sampler-tutorial/) if anyone's interested  Smiley

Very nice, beautiful examples of the stitches, mine are never that even. We need to bring back the sampler.

Very cool. Did you blend floss colors to get the in-between colors?

Nice. I've been trying to think of different ways to add wall art in my apartment. I might try something like this. Smiley

Lovely sampler. Your stem stitch and chain stitch are so neat. Mine never come out that even.

Thanks guys! We moved to a new place recently, and I was looking for something to go on the walls - this was a great solution!

For those commenting on the evenness of the stitching, that's what makes working on a fabric like linen so great - I could count my stitching to make it even! So for example most of the stitches were worked over 5 stitches, while some of the larger ones were worked over 10. It makes it so much easier than having to eyeball it!

Lovely, a great modern take on the sampler. I love how it is more than it seems when examined close up. Beautiful stitching, well executed - thanks for sharing it.

I didn't think it would be stitched when I clicked.  It's lovely!
