I'm a sucker for Caramel Corn (I say carmel BTW) regular popcorn I could care less about but you could definitely lure me into the woods with a good caramel corn Smiley

here's my recipe:
3 bags popped pop corn
2 sticks butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup Karo light syrup
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pop popcorn and place on baking sheets in shallow layer (allow enough room to stir)
melt next 4 ingredients over medium heat, when melted turn to medium high and boil for 5 minutes without stirring.  When finished stir in baking soda and pour over popcorn.
Place in 200 degree oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Cool slightly and ENJOY!

Ooooo!  Yummers!  I don't suppose you know about the number of cups of popped corn that 3 bags are.  I spent too many years in offices where the break room smelled like micro popcorn and can't stand the stuff anymore.  But we do have a popper.

I just looked on the Orville box and 3 bags=12 cups popped. Sorry but I don't  know what that equates to in unpopped kernels :/
On a side note, I worked in an office where the girls were trying to lose weight by eating popcorn at lunch (how is that even possible???) and the doctor that we worked for used to freak out at the smell. So much so that he never went to the movies because he hated the smell.

I have this receipe and it calls for 8 quarts of popped corn.  I use my large 4-cup glass measuring cup.  Remember 4 cups is 1 quart.....so I pop enough using a hot air popper until I get 8 quarts.  I hope this helps.

Thanks so much!  I know I can't pop all 12 cups at once so I can test it and figure it out.  The ManFlesh is a popcorn fiend so if we end up with 13 cups I bet he can take care of it.  Wink

I just made this recipe! It was so quick and easy! I didn't even need to make an extra trip to the store because it was all stuff I had in the house already.

My daughter and her boyfriend helped and we made some great memories along with some very tasty treats!!

I do suggest using a larger sauce pan as the caramel grows as it boils and grows again when you ad the baking soda. That was rather surprising to us!!

Thanks for this recipe  Grin

Thanks for mentioning that Puzzeling, I used a large non-stick pan, it looks too big when the ingredients are first put in but it definitely "grows" as it cooks.
I didn't use 4 quarts of popcorn because I feel that the caramel isn't enough to cover it to my liking, I prefer less popcorn, more caramel.
