I *think* that the beads are strung on a 45 degree angle, opposite directions with each panel. The way I'd do it (not that I'm likely to, OMG the hours and hours of work!) is start at the bottom left corner, add a bunch of beads to my cord, go down at 45 degrees to the bottom of the U, wrap a couple times around the frame for about the width of one bead, then go back up at a 45 degree angle to beside where I started, wrap a couple times, then down at a 45, and work my way up each panel like that. For the next panel over, I'd start at the bottom right corner, and then bottom left again, etc. I guess faceted round beads would be best, and if the glitter in the picture is any indication, probably glass or Swarovski.

Because of the tight spacing, I think the only panel you'll be able to pre-load beads on your cord is the very first one. After that, you'll need to load on the correct number of beads for the distance between each wrapping.

***I'm not a beader, I just like engineering puzzles***
