My friend recently returned from maternity leave to her job as a delivery room nurse. She was feeling down because she will have to leave her little guy at with a sitter while she works 12 hour days/nights so I thought that I would make her a tote bag to put all of her nursing stuff because things always suck LESS when you have cute accessories. The exterior fabric is patio canvas and the interior is cotton poplin (her favorite colours: green & purple).

Interior (you can sort of see the zippered pocket & key ring):

I am giving it to her when I go over next weekend...what do you think?

That's a really cute bag! Cat-n-Caboodle is right, your friend is lucky to have a good friend like you. Did you use a pattern or did you just think up how to make the bag as you went along?

You've worked so hard for everything you've got
Ten minutes later, you're a loser
Count your blessings and the ones you love
At this point, we beggars can't be choosers.

I used Vogue #7726 but modified it a bit (making the dimensions larger, adding interior pockets and a button closure). As far as assembly, it turned out to be quite similar to the Jordy tutorial (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32204.0) so you could probably make a few minor alterations (i.e. placement of straps, etc.) and just follow that.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I love the interior fabric. Where did you get it? My moms a nurse and I think she's like that.
