I was trying to do a search for past hoopla galleries, but I'm having trouble. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? I'd like to look at past works to see what people have done.

Check our profiles. I think I have 3 or 4 hoop swaps on mine. You can just click the link to the swap and the link to the galleries are usually in the first post.

canamharris you are the bomb diggity! THanks for making that list!

Also to further the machine/hand debate - If you have to machine stitch fabric together, that would defintely be okay, but I think it's about the spirit of this particular swap that it is done by hand.

Anyhoo, I encourage experimentation on this swap, so try some things out that you may not have before...

Personally, I'd be expecting at least some hand sewing on a hoopla. If my partner wanted to do some machine stitching as well that's cool but I kinda feel that the hoopla vibe is more hand-stitched.
I'd say, if you are more comfortable with machine but willing to try hand, sign up, then you can discuss with your partner what they'd prefer

Not sure who all inspires me in hoops....I tend to go from site to site without noticing, and pinterest hasn't helped that.  I do love looking through some of the vintage craft books and play around with what I find.

Was at the mall the other day and started getting ideas for all sorts of goodies on hoops.

This sounds like one hoop I can't wait to get started on considering I have already worked some stuff outer then thread in to some of my hoopla's swaps before. Sending in my questions.

I'm getting the feeling most of you thought I meant to use an embroidery machine with a digitized picture.  I would have been more clear to say thread painting I suppose.  All free motion.  And they can take as long as to do as some hand pieces I've seen if it's some kind of time issue.  But no worries.  Perhaps next time it might be clearer to mention hand work only in the description
