I came across these biodegradable newspaper seed starters on Reuseit.com and thought it was a clever idea. There’s a wooden tool with instructions on how to make these cute seed starter pots for the price of $18; however, I’d rather make the starters for free.

Let me know if you have any questions Smiley

Cheers,
Jinny

Cute!  I will try this if I ever try to garden again!  Gonna pass this along to some balcony gardeners I know!

I've been using a website that tells me when I'm supposed to plant everything, and have been racking my brain on what to use for seed starters that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. Thank you so much for posting this as well as the tutorial, you just saved me a ton of money!!

awesome! this is so great - I hate the plastic seed pots because I always seem to have one plant damaged when I take it out - so this is perfect!

cool! You can also just wrap newspaper around a can with about an 1 - 2 inch over lap,the smush down the overlap under than can. Remove the can and Voila! starter pot.

Love idea!  I saved up a bunch (20 or so) milk jugs last winter and used those for planters/greenhouses, but this is such a better idea.  I'm totally going to try it out this year.

I love that you can plant the little seed starts right in the same paper container!

I think it is less stress on the little guys!

Thanks for sharing this recycled and free project!  Just in time for spring!
