Just a quick little dolly + pattern

My daughter has a birthday party to go to on Saturday. So, I made a quick little dolly for the birthday girl. Using materials I already had and a quickly drawn pattern that was much like a ginger bread man shape, I put together a cute little doll.


Edited to add pattern:



Either use freezer paper, which you can iron to the fabric, or pin pattern to fabric.
Sew around pattern, leaving open where indicated for stuffing.
Remove pattern and cut around stitching leaving a 1/8 inch seam allowance.
Stuff arms and then top stitch on broken like. Repeat for legs. Stuff remaining head and body, and close opening with hidden/ladder stitch.

Now you can dress the doll, paint the doll, whatever you wish.

Her dress is a pillowcase dress. The bloomers are hot glued on, just a strip of lace around each leg and then two around her belly. The shoes are painted on. Usually I make dolls with joints, or posed arms and legs with completely removable clothing, but I want to do something quick this time. She only took 3 hours to make instead of 18-24.
Her hair is a yarn crocheted cap, with knotted pieces sewed to her head for pig tails. I've had that yarn for years. I'm glad I found a project for it.

My inspiration for this doll was the La La Loopsie dolls.

Do you have any tips on how to keep the neck firm?  I seem to have a problem with floppy heads....been thinking of putting a stick or something in there.  Love your doll

Popsicle sticks work well. I stuff very firmly.
