I also have one block for Melladh posted, It came out at 1/8 inch to small. So I am thinking I shall have to do any blocks from my Electric Quilt program at a scant 1/4 inch in order to get them to come out to size.

I figured out what was wrong with the block!!! It was stitched correctly and was in fact the correct size. when I was pressing the block. One of the seams had not opened all the way to the stitching causing it to be off in a corner, for that is where it was undersize. One corner was undersize in fact less then an 1/8 of an inch.

So I steamed the block to kingdom come, and pressed it again, working the seam open all the way, recheck all the rest of the seams to unsure nothing else had not pressed right.

Now the block is 12.5. I can't do any trimming on it. So it would befit me to do a scant 1/4 in the future. But it works. woohoo.

well and wonderment

I posted the first block I made for Colorado Deb.  I am not completely happy with it as far as the fabrics go.  I haven't decided how I want to proceed with the other 2, so I am setting them aside for now.

Only 11 more blocks to go. Smiley

My plain cotton fabrics are a tad heavier than what naturally lends itself to smocking, but it will hopefully be persuaded by some steaming Cheesy It's slowly coming along!

Oh, good! Smiley

I couldn't stop thinking of the block, so I just finished the other 2.  It was a fun block to make and I didn't have any trouble with it.  You'll end up with a fun quilt!

Greetings Everyone,

I have just finished the quilting on the purple and gray quilt. So now all that is left is squaring up and binding. Hoping to have pics of it up next week by the latest.

I have stated on other treads about the different types of basting I have tried and not liked any of them LOL

But I do have to say, hand basting has given me the neatest backing for the quilt. It all lays so nice without a lot of bunching and twisting. So it seems I will be hand basting all large quilts. They just look so much nicer

pics soon
