I wash my fabric unless it is is smaller then a fat quarter.

i Have two singers. One is a quilter model the other is a professional model used at schools.

I like them both and they both do what I need them to do and handle whatever I throw at them LOL

Questionnaire submitted!

I assume there's a rule to pre-wash fabrics?

This is a really good question.  Having started out as a sewer of clothing, I learned to always wash before cutting.  With quilting I figured it was the same, but now I read many quilters saying they don't pre-wash because they like working with the crispness of fabric right off the bolt.  And of course washing's not really viable with pre-cuts like charm pack and jelly rolls.

On washing, I thought there was a requirement to wash but I went back and reread and now i don't see it. It doesn't bother me either way - I like that crinkly look too. But maybe check with your partners to see how they feel.

I have a Kenmore. It's all right. It gets the job done.

I am looking for 6" and 8" squares of different red, green, white, and gold fabrics to complete a Christmas quilt.  Does not need to be Christmas fabric per se.

What a great idea for a swap!  I have been out of the loop forever.  Recently,I found a bag of swap blocks in my sewing drawer and realized how much I miss this stuff Smiley

I read the instructions and have a question, can I choose a theme rather then a color?  Batiks, 30's or polka dot fabrics?

If it is something general like batiks or polkadots, I say go for it!   I would just say nothing too picky only because having to buy a bunch of fabric for three squares could get expensive for people. But last go around, someone asked for children's prints specifically so I don't see a problem with selecting a type of fabric per se.

I am jumping it  Smiley  I think this is going to be a great swap!  On a side note, I went to the sewing expo today in Denver and was blown away by the new fabrics I saw.  I love seeing what else is out here, not just in my corner of the world.  Bought a bunch too!
