Finger's crossed very hard that by the time I get feedback for my first swap, there is still space left on this swap! Because do I ever love Gorey...

(C is for Corchen, who expired of impatience)

Oh, wow! I promised myself I wasn't going to swap this year (I get too obsessive about it), but I am sorely tempted to make an exception.

Edward Gorey was a favorite of mine many years ago. I had a writer friend and sent him "The Unstrung Harp: Or Mr. Earbrass Writes a Novel" in installments (a page or two at a time) over the course of a year.

And then one Halloween, made a cake inspired by his work:

Trying... to... resist... swap...

Um, WOW!!

Phizzy, Cackle, Racky, and Knickertwist--you guys are giving Gorey a run for his money.  I was telling DH and Lana about how witty you all were.
Methinks Lana is ready to read the Gashlycrumb Tinies now.  Is 8 too young?

ETA: forgot to add Knickertwist-ack!

Is 8 too young?

I don't think it's too young. It's a bit gross and morbid, but funny. More like victorian low-brow than violent gore so I don't think it's likely to cause nightmares.

Grimm's fairy tales are probably scarier.
I'm laughing my fanny off right now. I typed fairty tales in first go. Scarier still.  Cheesy

Well if Auntie Cackle and Knickertwist think it's ok it must be ok!
Lana just read thru this post and smiled her very amused smile.  She's ready I think!
