Hi all! I'm new to the world of plush making. I've always  thought they were adorable, but I've never attempted to sew one before. I was rewatching How to Train Your Dragons the other day though, and decided I wanted a Toothless. So, I gave him a go.
This is the result.

He's a very modified version of a few different plush patterns I found. Namely, a giraffe and a bear. The wings were improvised from a crochet pattern I really like.

I made him completely out of felt. His eyes are felt as well, just hot glued on.

And I never realized how hard black felt is to photograph. My camera kept making it oddly shiny or it wouldn't show any detail.

Well, that's my Toothless. Any suggestions for future ventuers into the world of plushies? It was a lot of fun to make him, and I think I'm going to make a few more. Smiley

He is SO cute! My son got this movie for Christmas so we've been watching it a lot. I love him so much. You captured him wonderfully!

It is amazing that you put him together using a giraffe and bear pattern, ingenious!  And yes, any kind of black material is hard to photograph because it seems to swallow up all the light, but you did a really good job with it here. Smiley

I wouldn't have guessed he was your first attempt, he's absolutely wonderful!

Oh, thank you so much! It took a lot of tweaking before I got the pieces right. It was a really fun learning expirience Smiley

I kept track of all the pieces I cut, and how I sewed them together.... I might be able to make a pattern of sorts. If anyone is interested, that is.

Love him! You did a really good job, especially on the face and all the details on his head.
