I'm not sure if this qualifies for this category, since there's technically no pottery or polymer clay in this project... However, it's kind of clay, and I'm not sure where else to put it, so.....

Here's what I made!

My partner in the Mini 12 Days of Christmas swap was redstar13, and she had pinned a skeleton bird with feathers on one of her pinterest boards.  I specifically didn't go back and look at it between being inspired and making the finished product.  I did not want to be tempted to make it the same.... Later, upon going back to look at the original bird, I realized it was made by another craftster, noooitaremybirthday, and was posted on her blog.

Needless to say, upon going back and looking at Noo's bird, I'm glad mine ended up being very different from, although clearly inspired by, hers.

I ended up making this bird from Crayola Model Magic Clay.  I like it because it's lightweight and smooth.  And it air dries.  It's a little bit finnicky to work with because it's a bit spongy.   I made the legs with thick black wire, and painted the body with acrylic craft paint.  (depending on the brand, some don't work as well on the model magic, so test first if you're going to try and paint it!)  I stuck the feathers in his butt after he was dry, and reinforced with glue.

Thanks for looking!

I really like him Smiley Love the red and your feather choice. I like the idea of looking at the inspiration project then not looking at it again, I normally get so hung up on making it like the inspiration project sometimes it takes the enjoyment out of making an item.
