First new quilt of 2013.

This one was made with vintage fabric from my grandmother and great aunt.

It was the first time I tried to FMQ feathers on a quilt as a nod to the tradition of quilting I was introduced to as I played under the quilting frame in my grandmother's living room.

I love some of the fabrics.  All these squares were hand cut by my grandmother and/or my grandfather and were collected over 60+ years.

 Details on my blog.  http://twasbrilligand.blogspot.com/2013/01/square-roots.html

Fun! I like the design you choose and with such wonderful memories and stories behind the fabric used I'm sure you'll treasure that quilt.

really love this - the white breaks up the colours so well, giving your eyes a chance to digest all the pretty fabric squares.

Pretty!  How big is it?  Looks smallish, but I know that looks can be deceiving . . . Such a nice tribute to your grandparents!

It is pretty small, 21 inches square.  The patches were all in the neighborhood of 2 1/8 inches square.

I love the quilting you did on this! Awesome! I have some similar patterns pinned, I like the scrappy look contrasted with the solid spaces!

Oh - that *is* small!  I think I need to try out a small quilt so I can practice doing some quilting other than stitch-in-the-ditch.  SITD is useful, but it ain't all that exciting!  I love your little quilt!
