You all have convinced me that I need to read Oryx and Crake and join goodreads! This swap also makes me want to re-watch Gilmore Girls. I had forgotten how many wonderful books were mentioned throughout the series. Plus, Melissa McCarthy is in it and I look for any excuse to have her brighten my day.

oooh I think I may have to sign up for this!!! I will have to peruse the lists to see what's on there but I know I have a ton of books on my "too read list"

I am on Goodreads!  The link is either in my signature or my profile...

I like Neil Gaiman but my fave by him is Neverwhere.

As for favorite books hmmmm probably books no one has ever heard of before... Heart of the West, Swan Song, A Boys Life, 19 Minutes, She's Come Undone, The Harry Potter Series, The Outlander Series....Oh this list could get rather long!

Is 19 Minutes the collection of short stories about people's live leading up to a subway accident? If it is, I've been trying to find that title forever.

No it's actually a book by Jodi Picoult about a high school shooting.  It's told from the perspective of the kid who does the shooting and his mother.  Not a happy subject but it was interesting to see things from the other side.

I really recommend Swan Song to anyone who is a fan of Stephen King's The Stand.  It's a very good end of the world/survivors/good vs evil book which makes it similar to The Stand but it's 100% different!

Ooh, thanks for the rec on Swan Song, I'll have to check that out.  In another apocalyptic vein, War Day by Whitley Strieber and James Kinetka is a really good read.  It has nothing whatsoever in common with The Stand, I just always think of it when I think of post-apocalyptic fiction, haha.

For the Discworld readers, today I was at the vet, where they have a whiteboard with the names of all the pets that have appointments for the day.  I brought my kitten Greebo, and there was an Esme written on the board, too!  Thought I'd share since it gave me a chuckle. Smiley

I just sent in my questionnaire; this sounds like it will be a fun swap! Smiley

I love apocalyptic/post-apoc. fiction. I just finished the 1959 novel Alas Babylon and I enjoyed it. It reminds me of Walking Dead in the sense that the male protagonist assumes responsibility for the group/becomes the figure of justice and the plot is character driven.

Any comicbook/graphic novel fans?

I love the Walking Dead, Y the Last Man, and Locke and Key! I just started getting into comics/graphic novels this past year, but they are so fun and relatively easy to breeze through. My best friend got a Y the Last Man panel tattoo on her arm and toyed with the idea of getting a whole sleeve based on comics.

I am excited for this swap! I don't remember what books I put on my list but I know they were all books I have been wanting to read!
