Im turning 13 in late September, this is really early to post but I haven't had a birthday party in 4 years so I want turning into a teenager to be special...+ I want presents  Wink. I want to have a costume competition and other games. Obviously none of my friends were alive in the 80's so a lot of them have no idea why I wanna do this. I like 80's music and SOME of the fashions Smiley. I can't play any 80's trivia games...you guys should know why. Umm I don't have a lot of room in my house but I do have a patio out back...Maybe i could combine the places where we could party... I need a lot of people to actually have a cool party... It would be lame if only 5 people showed. People don't hate me so I'm sure more than 15 will come.

If you think 80's is a good idea post things i could do to make it cool
If you think its a stupid idea post different ideas for what we could do

P.S I like a lot of bands like Misfits Ramones Dead kennedy Hendrix T Rex, Maybe I could do mypart all around those "kinds of" bands Ideas Aprreciated! Grin

One day whilst I was walkin'
a-walkin' through the park
a hickory caught my eye
with the most attractive bark
nervous, i approached it
eyeing branch to root
anxious, can't believe it
THIS TREE IS FUCKING NUDE!!!!

so...
take off all your clothes and
find a tree to fuck and
wrap your legs

yeah, for theme parties and costumes!

80's is a good theme to go with because almost everyone has something they can wear for a costume (i was always partial to crimping my hair and wearing a jazzercise outfit and legwarmers, heh.)

decorations....anyt hing neon colored, maybe a disco ball (there's a tutorial around here somewhere for a dixie cup and xmas light discoball), if you could find 80's movie posters (that would probably be a bit expensive, though) or maybe draw some 80's characters (ET...) on cardboard, maybe have an 80's movie playing in the background (pretty in pink, ET, the Lost Boys, etc).  you could also go to garage sales or thrift stores and pick up some funny 80's record covers to hang on the wall.  random old records can be as cheap as 10 cents around here...

music....make sure you have some good 80's mix CD's.  cyndi lauper, michael jackson, billy idol, kulture klub, flock of seagulls, etc, etc.

food....PIZZA!  i recall slumber parties from the 80's and there were always popcorn and doritos.  maybe pop rocks and jolly ranchers.  and for beverages- tab, fresca or cherry coke.

Um ive been thinking and maybe 80's isnt the way to go, cause like all my friends have no idea whats 80 and whats 60's, 70,s ect. so other ideas? it doesnt have to be a theme, just a good party

you could just have people come in their best 70's or 80's outfits... generally, 70's = disco and hippies and 80's = early Madonna style and Breakfast Club type movies.... you can google billboard's top 100 for 1980 or 1970 or whatever and get the big bands at that time, and if you see how they dress on their albums etc you might get some clues....

Or just make a cool mix CD and teach everyone to do the electric slide or the hustle or something - and you can do those to modern music too...

you know how people always say stuff like *wow i feel old* or somethign along those lines. well im seventeen. i remember the year you were born, i remember actual events from a year when actual teenagers were born. holy fun lovin criminals.

so anyway time to be useful. if you really want a time based theme (and i like time based themes) why not just say retro. that gives your guests the oppurtunity to *party out* in a theme they might know. or they can at least research one they are interested.....hope that helps ya.

yea maybe you could just tell people to dress from anytime period they want. decorate with stuff from all the time periods. maybe ask your friends what time they were doing so you can get an idea of the time range lol
