only recently started to book bind, and would love to do a leather bound book. As hunting doesn't happen over here (I'm UK) I'm scouring the charity shops for an old leather jacket or skirt to cut up Tongue

with your journal, do you finish one page before moving on to the next, or do you just around and come back to it? i've started some pages, but i get stuck and don't know how to go about building up the layers.

Not sure if this was directed at anyone specific, but I will throw my two cents in. I sometimes just sit down with nothing particular in mind and start slapping paint, glue, paper, and anything else withing reach onto my spread. If I get stuck, I just put it aside for a bit.

Also, sometimes I will work on 2 spreads at a time. While one is drying, I will start a on the second one. I try to finish my pages before I "put them away" but sometimes it doesn't go as planned so I leave them out and get back to them when I can.

If that helps.

I have some leather remnants I can send you if you like? They're upholstery offcuts I was given so they're thicker than clothing leather so they are pretty good for books (I've made mini books with it). Smiley

My two cents - Some pages come together easily and some not so much for me. So like Kaotic, some days I just work on backgrounds, lots of backgrounds. And some days I have a plan and I try to follow it.

And I'm one of those folks who can never decide if something is finished or not. So I do often revisit and add a bit here, add a bit there.

Another 2 cents - I'm a bit like the others - some days I do one thing, next day I do another. I tend to work on sheets of paper, so some days I can be working on 3 or 4 at a time. Sometimes I do lots of backgrounds, spraying, painting, whatever and go back over the pages as the whim takes me. Other times I will sit down and finish a page, and, on occasion, I have even been know to start with a blank sheet and end up with a finished spread Smiley

With getting stuck - you can always start another one, or grab what's at hand and add another layer, knowing that if it doesn't work you can paint/gesso/collage over it and start again Smiley
