Hey all,

I'm digitizing a design in SophieSew for my Futura XL-400. Part of the design uses metallic thread, and that is where everything goes wonky. My machine just won't keep the thread in tension, so sooner or later everything winds up in a great big snarl of ultra-loose fibers. I tried raising the tension a bit to see if it helped, but I didn't want to break anything so the highest I went was just below tension "4" on the selector (machine goes 1----2----E----4 up to 10 on the tension scale, with "E" of course being the auto-embroidery setting).

Has anyone else used metallic thread for machine embroidery with an XL400? If it helps, the specific thread is Coats&Clark T48 (ARTD79), a nylon-core that's coated in polyester.
