Water Water Everywhere

The following are all images of a cup I made in my fall 2012 ceramics class. It's a rather large coffee mug for my aunt who enjoys coffee all day everyday. It is thrown porcelain with painted Amaco underglaze for the main body and under the foot, the rim foot and handle are oil spot with transparent over it (gives it the blueish glow). Had it not fused to the kiln shelf and chipped I would have been happier with it, but my aunt loved it and that's all that matters.

Wow! That's beautiful! You did an impressive job with the underglaze painting. What temperature is it fired to? I've had some trouble with colors burning out.

 Thanks everyone.. and it's high fired to cone 9 which is very difficult to keep from burning out to some degree, but many of the low fire Amaco under glazes keep mostly true to their color. There's also high fire underglazes that I've tested out and even some of those have burned out also. It's not totally predictable

thank you it took me far too many hours to complete this on cup, but my aunt loved it. It's taken some time for me to learn patience with my work
