Jolenes technicolour dream coat :)

So here is my waist coat, it took a whole summer to make - but I have to say I wear it ALL the time.
The inspiration came from a purchase a while back in a fibre shop that has a pick and mix merino section spread over 10 sheds !!!!!! - seriously, you have no idea how much I spent !
Anyhow, the little balls of colour which Ive embellished with yarn were made from just balling up little areas of said wool.
It was made in my usual haphazard "lets see how this works" kind of way, I took a 3m piece of silk, laid out lots of merino, made up a rough design and then rolled the whole lot between two layers of bubble wrap and 4 towels.
With much help from a 7 year old and a 5 year old (My poor hard working sons) - I had my fabric.
I then literrally held it up to me and cut out the arm holes.

It then just took a bit of time to eye up the piece, and pop in some embellishments and thread work and Voila - a rather warm tres funky waistcoat.

It is a rescued toggle button from a vintage child's coat I rescued in a junk shop, and the bottom button is a simple wooden bead glad you all liked it

beautiful work. I need to ask is it washable?  or has that not been an issue?

Hi there, I have hand washed it yes - to be honest, when you nuno felt, you felt the wool down to its maximum anyway.
Each wash brings the pink swashes into a different wave however, as they are made from a much coarser fleece and so dont felt up quite as well (though are amazing for needle felting !)
