After racking my brain for months trying to come up with a Christmas gift for my picky boyfriend, that was not only dirt cheap, but awesome and meaningful as well, I had the idea to make him an octopus(we've got a mutual soft spot for the critter) guitar strap. It turned out pretty well and he loves it!

I bought an inexpensive leather strap online and used acrylic paint with Liquitex gloss medium & varnish to seal it. The strap had some texture to begin with but I sanded it to give it a little more. I used double sided tape to stick in on to a long piece of cardboard to make working on it (and storing it) easier.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm sure any musician would have loved this. Hope you don't mind, but I am sharing on FB.

That turned out amazing! I'm curious to see how it will hold up... It will look so badass once it starts crackling a bit!
