Dressing room/shop floors.
I had to buy jeans today, so I tried on a bunch of pairs in 4 or so different shops. In each of those changing rooms (on the floor), I found...
-A large pearl
-A zip from a zipper
-Several sequins
-Some snaps
-3 or 4 diamantés
A couple of other miscellaneous things. I have added them all to my catchall bag (which just keeps on growing and growing).
Another good place for free things is the ground. I am a complete magpie, and I have found so, so, so many gorgeous things on the ground including countless chains, a leather wallet, a silver earring and barbell, sequins and beads, buttons, and hundreds of charms.
I'm taking cheap to a new level.

LOL-Stargirl, my son is a magpie too. One day a couple of summers ago I swear that child found a coin on the ground everywhere we went! We came home with over $4 in change that day.

My husband calls it "ooooh SHINY" syndrome-my son and I see something and completely stop to pick it up. Wouldn't matter if we were running from bears, we would HAVE to stop and look at it.  Grin

hah i read that and thought it said "ten bucks on a beach" ... which reminded me of the time i saw a five dollar bill underwater while flying through the air, diving off a dock.
nearly killed myself trying to get it.
very very worth it.

My husband found the custest rubber duckie for me in the grocery store parking lot last week. We would have run it over when we backed out. I love found things. It's kind of like they are out there looking for YOU. The duckie wanted a home that would love it. Shiney things want to be where they will be adored. They seek us out.

When I was younger and my mom brought me into the fitting rooms I would always collect the broken size tags from hangers, they come in all different colors and different stores have different shaped one.  I'm sure they could be made into something.

This post is making me want to go to the mall and try things on for absolutely no reason but to find things on the floor. ^_^

I was looking for a drop bead to center one of necklaces around but I couldn't find anything at
the craft store I liked, but as I was leaving to meet my mom at the scrapbooking store I looked down and found the most gorgeous ambe drop bead. It was way stuck in a sidewalk crack but I managed to get it out. I was also walking around my neighboorhood the other day and found the most adorable squeek penguin toy. I also find coins every where.. my friends all think it's really weird that I just pick up stuff off the ground, but it's so much fun I don't care. lol

I'd been lurking at Craftsters for a while but knew I'd found My People when I saw this as someone's tag line in a post: I was off to change the world, but I got distracted by something shiny.

I don't remember who it was, but "thank you!" whoever you are for summing up my life in fourteen words! Cheesy

Yep, keep your eyes open.  Tha'ts what it's all about.  You woldn't believe what people just discard on street corners, on the floors, in parking lots, etc.  Most of my curb finds come from the fact that I'm walking along and notice, hey...is that a chair, etc...thrown against that tree?
