A friend requested I make one of my weird little monsters for her new baby-to-be and chose a beautiful mossy green cashmere sweater from my pile of felted thrift store scores. The first attempt yeilded my usual slightly creepy creature:

not exactly appropriate for a baby I thought so I,d try again:

Still a bit creepy but more creepy-cute. She was happy with this little guy but I got a phone call the night she took it home relaying the dreadful news that her dog had devoured him in the misguided attempt to protect his people from invading goblins. D'oh! So I rescued what bits and pieces I could and had another go:

There wasn't much fabric left to work with so I had to leave some random inexplicable seams and somehow incorporate a left breast pocket:

Third time's the charm right?

The evolution of that poor little monster is cute and it'll make a great story to tell the baby one day Cheesy

Each incarnation was adorable!

Thanks! Smiley
The final product is a present for the baby but will have to go without the story as my friend is acting as a surrogate for a family who can't conceive (how nice is that, eh?). But maybe they will stay connected and she can tell the tale some day. Until the baby is born the cashmere creature is locked safely away in a cupboard.
And the first monster was scooped up by a friend's 14 year old son who just fell in love with his creepy cuteness, lol.
I actually met the dog who did the deed today, my friend's kids were out walking their 3 pooches. I can't believe such a cute little hound would wreak such havock! She was deceptively adorable, ha ha.
