Hi everyone!

My salon always does a Secret Santa gift exchange for the holidays, and this year I knit a pattern called Cappucine from Adela Illichmanova, found on her blog here: http://navlne.blogspot.com/2009/12/knitting-pattern-capucine.html

I used a pattern adaptation by SpiderWomanKnits on Ravelry to make adjustments for my yarn (a whole bunch of scrap Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn from making all my reading shawls over the years) but made the back end pointier and omitted the back tassel.

Here's Denise sporting her new hood

From the side, showing the color transition.

A k2tog 5-point decrease every other row gives the fun swirl-shape that gradually comes to a point.

Hope you enjoy!

That's awesome! I've been eying that pattern for awhile! How'd you get the top so pointy? I'm still a pretty noob knitter Tongue

Thanks guys!

To get the top pointy, after I joined the 40 stitches in the round, i placed 5 stitch markers, one every 8 stitches. Every other row I k2tog after the stitch marker until there were only 10 stitches left, then I gathered them all on the tail of the yarn and closed the top. This is a more gradual decrease and also creates that spiral shape on the decrease line.

Nice job -- I'm sure the recipient was really happy!  (I love this pattern.)
