: dulcet : such a creative use of materials! Very neatly done too.
: craftylittlemonkey : I really, truly love that toy box. Exactly as it is. But I'm confident you can turn it into something even better Smiley
: Taramor : that is a significant destash effort! Very nice stitching.
: smileyyogini : welcome! Destashing is excellent fun, I think you'll enjoy yourself Smiley

I've been sewing a cushion cover by hand; started last night and will hopefully (fingers crossed) finish it tonight. It's mostly stash materials (I'd say 85%) but has a piece or two of more recently added fabrics (last couple of weeks). Should I show it here once it's done or isn't that in keeping with the spirit of the destash?

*waves* Hi Jfer!!!!

Melerific, I dont know if I have grasped the "destash" concept because when you said that someone was going to get a great haul when you move I wanted to ask where you lived so I can come get your stuff. This is going to take some time to sink in. LOL

Look at it as de-stash to re-stash and you give yourself permission to buy absolute bargains at Goodwill  Smiley To me destashing isn't about getting rid of everything it's about making use of what I have to hand rather than spending money where I don't really need to.

I haven't been working on much recently apart from my Poppet for the Poppet swap and I can't share her yet although I do have in progress pics on my FB as I'm really proud of her and needed to show off somewhere  Roll Eyes

The glove experiment didn't go well  Sad I got one finished, badly finished,it went into the bin with no partner AND despite making the biggest size and having a slightly stretchy fabric it wouldn't have fit me anyway *sigh*

I have made a few things from stash - a dalek pincushion and two hoops for swaps, and I suppose the two skirts were from "stash" (one mine, though it was fabric bought for that purpose last year so I don't know if it counts, and the other from my friend's) - but I've also fallen off the wagon.

Last week we were buying stuff for the ASPCA (fundraiser thingee at work)  and they requested flat sheets.  Weeeeeelllllll, the sheet sets were only $5 more, and I can always use more pillowcases and the fitted sheet is a lot of fabric to use on skirts and stuff...

...then I went to a different fabric store and found PERFECT fabric for a big costume idea, and bought 6 yards of fabric.

...and I've bought some yarn, though three skeins were for a very specific swap project.

I have a bad feeling my efforts to "Destash" as going to end the same as last year, with me ending up with MORE stuff than I started the year with, unless I get off my behind and start working!

I know I only post here and there, and can't post photos, but I'm so proud of myself when I de-stash ANY of my yarn that I have to post about it!  Cheesy Roll Eyes

I am in the IYP swap with alwaysinmyroom (I'm so excited!) and the three items I've made for her so far have de-stashed about four skeins of pretty good sized yarn, and I'm still de-stashing!

Whoo-hoo!

Things I've made!   Shocked  Out of stash no less!!  Grin

Old CD cases converted into coloring cases for in the car/traveling.  Dessadoll got 3, and I made 3 for my kids too!

Yaaaarn!
I call this "bear poop in the blueberry bush"... It was an experiment. And yes I know bear poo is more pellet like.  but still.

Recent spins by SpinHeartSpin, on Flickr

This one has no name. It'a a core spun.  It's over spun, so I may have to throw it back through the wheel to take some twist out.  Hopefully it doesn't kill the yarn....

Same as above, but laid out side by side so you can see the colour runs.

This one is lovely thick and squishy. Shetland, Mohair and Hemp!

And some neked yarn for dyeing!

Feels good to have some more stash "gone" (silly spinning is more transforming stash...)

Well said, Kookaloo! And I think it is fine to show projects, where only most of the materials are from stash, JessKelly. I would love to see your cushion cover.

Lovely yarn, Belladune! And the coloring cases, too.
