April Themes

Purple Satin Fabric by shaire productions, on Flickr

Color:  Purple
Pattern:  Paisley
For:  Your car, bicycle, scooter, or donkey cart.  However you get around.
Challenge 1:  Now that you've done a bit of cleaning, picked our collective brains for new uses for old items, and generally had a while to ponder your stash, you may come to the conclusion that there are some items in there you are never going to use.  That's okay!  Pass them along to someone else.  (After all, that makes room for new stuff).
Challenge 2: Okay, so we've all probably got a Pinterest boards or a bookmark folder full of neat tutorials we've saved for later.  Well, later is now, so how about rolling up your sleeves and giving one or two of them a try.

Kookaloo_Starr copied these in her post earlier, I've put it up again so they're easier to read.  I got caught up with travel and family for Easter and forgot to post them yesterday.

Well, April is my month, purple is my favorite color, and i believe i have some paisley fabric somewhere. Woohoo!

My sister sent me a picture of my nephew in his Mickey Mouse hat. Like i figured, the ears do not stay up, but it's maybe even more adorable because of it.

Look at his little face. Hahaha!

Oh, how adorable! And yes, I do mean both the hat and the kid.  Kiss

This is my paisley fabric I'm intending to use this month, I have a few strips approx 10" x 30". It is polyester and has a slight stretch to it.

This is what I'm attempting to make - GLOVES  Smiley

I struggle to knit gloves and don't like how bulky crochet ones turn out so I thought I would try sewing a pair. I bought the pattern originally for the hats and I am psyching myself up to make the gloves. I don't know why I am so daunted by the prospect, its not like I lose anything but time if they don't work out  Roll Eyes

K-Star--what lovely fabric!  are the gloves lined?   I would never have thought to sew gloves, but why not!  I imagine turning the fingers could be the hardest part, but a chopstick would help that!

I'm making the first pair unlined, I don't want to cause myself more trouble than I need  Wink The difficult part (I think) will be sewing the gussets between the fingers although since I started making dolls I'm better at those tight turns and narrow margins  Grin

Floppy ears on the hat are cute!

Kookaloo - For some reason, it would have never occurred to me to sew gloves, but what a fun project to try - and like you said - if they don't turn out, you lost some time and a small bit of fabric, thats it
