Crafting 'cause I can't help myself

For a while now I have been using these day of the dead embroidery samplers I did as earring holders but pushing the hooks through the material was starting to bend them so I used black heavy duty necklace thread to make dashed lines across the black part the give the earnings more places to hang off of without ruining them.  Not a big craft but I am trying to get back in the flow of actually getting stuff done as I will be vending a couple of small events in late March and early April and I need to get to work on making stuff.

I also realized as I was gathering supplies to see what I have that while I am about 2/3 done with the craft room a lot of the remaining 1/3 is my jewelry making stuff so I need to get working on that.

Thank you for the kind comments everyone, destashing is more fun with others; this craftalong is proof Smiley
gaudiknight I think those little notebooks would appeal everyone, you may not be able to hold onto them for long.
trinalocakary very clever idea and thanks for mentioning your jewellery making stash; it reminded me that I had better sort mine.

Hi everyone - I have been a long time lurker on Craftster and finally signed up today, purely because I need to join this craft a long - my stash is huge! I start a new hobby, become obsessed and buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff, then become obseesed with something else, and the cycle keeps going! So I hope noone minds if I tag along Smiley

My longest UFO has been going now for 2 years - it is a Legend of Zelda cross stitch for my boys bedroom. So my goal is to finish it this month. I can't post pictures at the moment, but as soon as I can I will how you all Smiley

You are at the right spot, Craftygoodness...it is only now that I have whittled down my crafting obsessions to just a few...I used to see something, get all of the supplies, make a bunch of stuff, then lose interest...now I might test the waters, but not go crazy! Cheesy

trina--what a cute way to hangyour earrings...love the skull embroidery as well...

Thanks for welcoming me to your craft a long, it is the last day of Feb here and I didn't get my cross stitch finished, but I am close! A tummy bug put me out of action for today but I am feeling a little better now so will get back to it tonight. Here is a work in progress shot anyway Smiley

Sorry about the quality of the photo, my camera has just decided to break so I had to use my phone ;(

February was kind of a bust for getting any big projects completed, but the I realized everything I did do was from stash.  I made 2 fabric infinity scarves from pieces left over from other projects, one muslin from stash fabric, and started using up some stash yarn when I ran out of the original yarn for a crochet blanket (mostly because I know the recipient won't care about the color change).  More importantly, I spent $0 on supplies this month.  So even if I'm using it up slowly, I'm at least not replacing it.   Smiley

So I have a question for everybody.  At least half of my stash is inherited-- from both my Grandmas, my husband's Grandma, and my Mom.  Love it.  But sometimes when I get out an older piece of fabric to use... it's got a smell.  Not from smoking, or pets.  To me it smells old, kind of like dust.  (Most of the people I mention it to just look at me funny.)  And of course it gets stronger if I have to iron it.  But I have the perfect piece of black brocade (which I simply cannot find at a store) and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out how to get the smell out.  In the past I've tried, washing, drying outside in the sun and breeze, and soaking in a vinegar rinse.  None of those have worked.  Any other ideas?

I have boxes of vintage piano music.  Some as old as 1890's!  PM me if you'd like some!
