Two projects to show! My partner received her tote bag, so now I can post -

I made this over the weekend, but it's not 100% De-stash. I did have to buy two extra bags of pearls to finish it out

Isn't it aggravating to have to buy more stuff for a project that was supposed to be "stash?"  But - hey- as long as it gets done!

I did a bit of paper-crafting this weekend.  I took all my theater and movie tickets out of the desk drawer where they were rattling around and put them in a 6 x 6 scrapbook I'd bought a while ago for who-knows-what purpose.  They didn't all fit, so I'm hoping to find some extra pages to put in, but my local craft stores don't sell any that small.  No pictures, but I'm quite pleased with the result.

I brought a giant box of supplies over to our yearly Valentine's making afternoon, and we got a lot of cards made.  But you can't really see any difference, because it was all scraps.  Story of my life.

that mermaid tote is just too cute!  Where did you get that design?  I love how she is swimming in an "ocean" of blue!

Ehinders, I love that thread catcher idea. It's something I could really use, as I'm one of those people who's obsessive about snipping threads, but my wastebasket is on the wrong side of the sewing machine, and I waste a lot of time turning around to throw bits away. Did you back the weighted part with some non-slip material, or does it stay in place okay without it?

Wulf- I didn't back it with anything. Just the same fabric that's on the front. I had some poly-pellets leftover from making my DD a weighted blanket, so I put those on the bottom and stuffed it with regular poly-fill on top. It stays put nicely. texscrapper- Love the mermaid tote! The Intital door wreath is awesome! Been wanting to make one for awhile now....maybe this week.

Hope nobody minds me popping in so late, but I'd like to participate too.

Looking through other peoples stashes on this craftalong I can see that mine isn't absolutely massive but it is diverse and disorganised which means nothing is getting used which kind of defeats the purpose of collecting it all in the first place. By joining this craftalong I plan to assemble my stash in one place (no more keeping it in gaps in the kitchen cupboards, linen closet, dresser drawers etc), organise it so that I can plainly see and access everything and then (the exciting part) craft with it. Though organising can be pretty exciting too I'm finding you all very inspirational and will post some progress soon.

I'm off to tackle my stash. Right this instant.

Welcome aboard and good luck with the initial push, JessKelly. 

On a side note, its reassuring to hear that other people keep their stashes in odd places.  I had to pull some stuff out of bathroom cabinets and a bag that "lived" in the trunk to get all my stash together for pictures a week or so ago.  Still working on the organizing part, but at least I've found it all.

Thanks for the warm welcome

I hunted down most of my stash last night and spread it over/under/beside the kitchen table. I took a photo but can't post it since I'm new and need to post 10 times first. As soon as I saw it piled there I decided it would never be piled anywhere again, everything would have a home. It's very strange that I have a clean and organised house but I had failed to show my craft supplies any respect even though crafting is such a source of joy. So now I'm going to value them a lot more: instead of piles of fabric (with a Christmas card sticking out amongst it of all things!) they'll be washed and ironed and folded. Buttons and beads and jewellery pieces will be separated (actually, beads are a bit tricky, we'll see what happens there) and paper craft supplies will be neatly placed together. I think it's also time to choose which storage containers are working for me and which aren't and then pretty up the keepers. Then I'll find a place for it all and I'll just maintain it.  

I'm looking forward to seeing more of what other people are making from their stashes, since it's something I get to look forward to doing when my stash is in order.
