Crafting 'cause I can't help myself

I am not ready to deal with my paper stash...at least they are in bins...I can't find what I want readily, but that is just something I will have to deal with...maybe in the fall...Sad

It is a snowy icky day here so no going anywhere so I carried in as much of my paper as I could find (as in *I* would not wait for my husband to get out of the loo so *I* hauled in at least 100 pounds of paper and other random stuff despite my knee buckling because I am a big dumb stubborn ass and will pay for it later)
The thing is I have this feeling I am missing a bin of just paper but I think I have been crafting out of a bin for so long that it is now spread out among these other boxes.
One of the things I wanted to go get today is mailing boxes so I could make the paper cubbies but I was thinking of standing them on end and using some for the actual pads of paper.  Oh well sorting alone will take 3 or 4 days I think.

BTW here are some links to my future art room organizing projects/plans

I already have one version of this pen organizer in metal and tons of loo paper rolls so I might try this

I have one of these pants hangers and will use it for tape and ribbon

trina--those are fabulous ideas!!!  I love the shower ring one the most...I use a clothes line with clothespins to hold little baggies of some of my lighter weight things, so that idea would be great for heavier things!

Binder clips and shower curtain rings. AWESOME, thanks for the link.

I've been hanging up the larger pieces of fabric in the closet of the craft room.

Whoa! That binder clip organiser thingy is amazing! The inspiration for hers kind of reminds me of this thing that I saw on pintrest and pinned, thinking I would make it one day: http://themorrisonconnect.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/09/spinner_7.jpg All it is is a paper towel holder, binder rings, and page protectors. I think I like that hanging one better though, it uses less tabletop space that could be used for crafting...

I stayed home from my "job" today. Yesterday my 8yo son got teary when I was leaving and said he wished I didn't have to go. Well, since I volunteer I don't have to go, but I do try to schedule time off for their benefit. Anyway, while my kids were doing their school work today I started organizing. I can actually walk into the closet now! Cheesy I went through all the yarn and am giving away a large.  I'm still saving too much but just can't part with anymore right now. I also have a big bag full of large scraps of flannel to give away. My mom is a quilter so I save fabric scraps for the someday when I get around to quilting. I decided today to not worry about the someday flannel quilts anymore and let someone else make them. That feels really good Smiley I went through most of the clothing fabric and realized I really need to get busy making those items for my daughter or she'll outgrow the amount of fabric I have. What would have been a dress would have to be a blouse! I have several patterns that are too small for her, but I'm sure I can make them work. I wish I would have gotten finished, but I am proud of what I accomplished today.

My next task is the desk area!

That is similar to the inspiration she showed which was this big pro display type thing, I have the extra space in the closet above the drawers and I have a bunch of 3 inch rings that I can use that will fit over the closet rod.  I have tons of tiny scraps of paper I don't want to dump or put in shoe bags since they would be in plastic bags anyway so that I could move them around and access them.

I've decided that the destash along for me, is not about not adding to my stash. It's more about being aware of what I have, and using it when it can work well in a project. Which is good, because i just added a bit to my fabric stash. Wink Everything I bought was technically for a specific project, but who knows when I'll get to those projects. It's all good though, because I love having stacks of pretty fabric.

Thanks "trinalockary" for the great links! I like the shoe box with the toilet paper rolls used for markers, pens & pensils etc. I have all of the things so I can make it. I have been using big coffee mugs but isn't working. Also the hanger ones, I think are for  pants or skirt hanger & the plastic organizer I know I have those around somewhere & I can get them made up. The paint organizer looks good but I think for now will put them on a turn table I have a couple of those too!. The clip one might work but I'll have to wait & see.

4 plus hours no internet, got a lot of cleaning and organizing done. Did add to the de-stash fabric pile, and put a lot of paper ephemera in the recycle bin.
