Here are the dresses I made for my nieces 4th birthday.  The theme was Cars Princess. I bought the pink shirts that had sequined bows on them and added a car button to the centre of the bow.  Then I added a circle skirt with pink knit binding. They loved them and man did they look great when they twirled.

I am very proud of myself today.  I need to get going on some pretty complex costumes that no way am I going to make without muslining first, so I had planned to either use some JoAnn's gift card on muslin or hit up goodwill to find some cheap sheets.  Instead, my boyfriend and I reorganized the storage unit in what couldn't have been more than 20 minutes so that I have constant access to the rubbermaid tub of fabric I have in there.  And voila, I found some hideous fabric to use as muslins, thereby stashbusting instead of adding to it.  Won't have anything to show for my efforts for a while, but I don't know if I would have thought about messing with it if it weren't for this craftalong!

Yay for reorganising and useful stash!

Look twice, buy once. Nooooo
Look twice, decide I can make one instead.

Here's my stashbusting list for now until end of January:

Use up 5 meters black fabric to make pants and skirts
Use jelly roll kit to make quilt top
use up 10 sheets of scrapbook paper/card stock
Donate all scraps to local school for their art program
clean and organize craft room

That's the best thing about de-stashing and being a preschool teacher, somewhere to take the things I have no idea what to do with, and let the kiddos use them! They love going through the hundreds of beads I got tired of looking at and making collages with scraps of fabric and paper too small for me to use, but too pretty to just throw away.

I love circle skirts!  They do twirl so nicely!

Looks like a fun party!

Carolmb--making a scrappy quilt is a good way to destash!

My cat also helps with my destashing... Cheesy

I managed to make 2 of these paper sorting racks, it took 100 zip ties (well 99 by the time I broke a few) but it helped me use up a lot of these racks that I don't have connectors for.

My versions

They work great and are sturdy but if I did one again I would buy really secure zip ties as these don't have great teeth.

This flu is really kicking my tushy. I thought I'd be able to go back to work today, but a half-hour of moving around this morning made my temp go up and symptoms to get worse. I think I'll spend one more day on the couch. I didn't get much done this weekend, and then I found a plastic tub full of yarn that I thought was full of summer clothing. Grrr...  Angry Maybe I'll crochet a swiffer cover today, I've wanted to do that for a while...

Wow, trinalocakary, that turned out really nice! Too bad I don't have any surface space to put stuff on, or I would try making one, too. Maybe once I destash the rest of my stuff, I'll have the room...

J_Kieviet, that dress is so cute! I would have totally loved one of those when I was 4! Heck, I wouldn't mind one now!
