Hmmm...those August themes sound good.  Of course, so did the July ones.  I got out a piece of red gingham when I read those, thinking it would be fun to make something from it.  And did I?  Nope.  I keep on looking at my stash, thinking I'd like to make all kinds of things.  But half of them don't serve a purpose.  And if the thing I make just sits around looking cute, then how is that any better than just sitting around as stash?  But I really need to use my stash!  It's like a vicious cycle.  Argh!

craftylittlemonkey - The handles are rope. I just sewed them in between the lining and bag like regular handles. Then I topstitched 5 rows of stitching on the top of the bag for added support Smiley

Dulcet -- have you thought about making charity projects?  I'm in the same boat with a lot of my crafting.  I pulled out my bin of scrap yarn last night and started working on a granny square blanket for the Snuggles Project.  I'm going to try using up my pink baby yarn for some items for Newborns In Need, Inc.  The S.P.E.W. Craftalong has a lot of great ideas!

I love the SPEW craftalong for charity...I have used up quite a bit of my yarn stash on projects and am working on whittling down my fabric stash...QFK is a fun one for me...so are the pillowcase projects...

I love to make things but I can't keep it all or else I would have to buy another house! Grin

Sorry for the whiny post before.  Hope I didn't bring anybody down.  I decided to just jump in and finish a project that I've had supplies for sitting around for too long.  And while I was working on it, I decided it could probably work for a Christmas present for my niece.  (I'll post when it's finished.)  And thinking of Christmas reminded me that our local library collects gloves and hats  for the homeless in December.  That would be perfect for digging into my yarn.  I'll have to check out SPEW, too.  You guys are good for me.

Smiley  Glad you got some inspiration, dulcet!  I am in the same boat of wanting to use up my stash but not have a ton of "stuff" laying around.  Whatever hubs and I can't fit into four suitcases has to be shipped or left behind come October 9th, so unless it's baby boy things I'm really getting picky about what we keep.  Charity projects seemed perfect since I've already given family tons of crocheted gifts.

And speaking of stash...well, I thought I had a handle on what supplies I had and what should be done with them.  BUT, while searching under my bed for a lost shoe I discovered a box and a huge duffel bag full of supplies.  One is yarn and fabric and the other is about 40-50 pounds of unused plastic grocery bags.  DH used to work at Wal-Mart and brought me the box because it was "damaged" in some way or another and they were going to throw it out.  I used some to make plarn tote bags, but that was when I had an Etsy...

Anybody want a plarn tote bag?   Grin

So glad you put a handle on that cozy...I have been given quite a few "green" water bottles but do not like them as they have no handles to carry them easily...this would be a good solution!  I love that you used an old sweater...soaks up the moisture!
