Holy cow! You ladies have been busy! I'm following along with fantasticmio's blog challenge, "Project Crochet," and her challenge for February is to use novelty yarns. I can't see using novelty yarn on a hat for a male, so I may have to make a second hat again this month Smiley

Since I'm not watching the Super Bowl, I think I need to rustle up some novelty yarn and a basic hat pattern...

I remember Lee Wards! Grin

I purchased a ten dollar bamboo hook and used it once.  I don't like them either.

1st divine hat, in white mystery yarn. Feels like cotton, but may be a blend, it's super soft. I added an extra row before the ribbing so I could pull it over my ears. I'm not used to any kind of cold lol.

And a pix of the yarn before I started.

2nd Divine, infant sized, using Aslan Trends Magic Garden 224, a green/multi acrylic.. I did not do the ribbing, just kept going with the same stitch, added an extra row, and did the last row with 5dcs to make it ruffle a bit.

Thank you! It was what came out of the basket, left over from another project. I love the green tho, it was more than I usually spend, bit I didn't need a lot, fortunately.
Btw, all the hats on here are making me want to crochet, which aside from a baby blanket in November, I haven't done in over a year. Maybe puff stitch next? Out a slouchy hat... I need to soon so I can yet some yarn to match the scarf I made for my trip.

There are soo many great hat patterns over on Ravelry.com, some are paid patterns but I only buy a pattern if I am in love and i cant figure out how to make it myself, I have been working on some ami's for the sweat shoppe swap so I havent done a hat in a couple weeks, i'm starting to think I may have enough for myself, a whole basket full..I already made my girls hats for christmas, so I think I will find something 'manly' to make for my boys (4 & 6y.o) what is everyone's favorite 'man' hat???

Also since it is February and V-Day is coming up, how about hats in romantic colors? Red, pink, white, whatever color says romance to you??

My hubbys favourite "man hat" is a basic beanie in camo type yarn with a brightly coloured stripe or two  Grin

I think most men prefer a beanie type hat...and it has to cover the ears!  Mine does like stripes but he prefers his hats in dark colors only, so they are boring to me...my nephew-in-law has dreadlocks so he loves any hat big enough to tuck them in...I found quite a few on ravelry that fit the bill.
