The Fabric Place is the best store ever.  They have EVERYTHING!!!

Unfortunately, the Fabric Place in Cromwell is closing. Don't expect any great deals -- since it's a chain, they're moving most of the merchandise to their other locations: http://www.fabricplace.com/scripts/store_locator_cromwell.asp

I just found out about that, and I'm going to cry Cry Cry
It was the only resource I'd found that I could really count on.
Anyone know of a petition we could sign to keep it there??

For those of you in central CT like me... there is an AC Moore in Plainville. I get all my yarn there and they have a decent selection of all the major brands and a lot of international brands and obscure brands. the prices are pretty low too (i've never paid more than $7 for yarn there).

it's in the new-ish Connecticut Commons shopping area which is right off route 72 in plainville. (the first exit on 72 after the I-84/route 72 junction craziness)

i practically live in their yarn section, so you might see me there :-)

I've been to knotty girl.. really cute store, interesting selection.  Not a whole lot to choose from, i went, looked at the yarns, and then went back when i had a project that could use them.  The yarns are gorgeous and expensive (imho).  the place is nice, the owners/employees are sweet, helpful, and friendly ladies.

really? i have never found anything besides like lion brand and the arcylics that are recongizable there. i love patons, and i get it there and the crappy joanns off route 6 (which now that i think about it, only the cromwell joanns is nice). but thats the only yarn there that i love. O they are haveing a sale of sorts, last time i went (two weeks ago) there was TONs of sale yarn!

Im in south western CT. Selmas is the only place I have gone to. Im in the Brookfield/Danbury area, and I cannot find any great places to get good yarn.
Ive only been knitting for a very very short time, but Im addicted, so I went to go look for some "fancy" yarn.
I went to the generic Micheals and Ragshop in town and their selection is alright, then there is the Fabric tree by Danbury Fair Mall, they have a large yarn section in the back, but they didnt have anything I was looking for. what they did have was good quality, but very expensive. lots of handmade and hand dyed stuff! it was so pretty o_o

There's also a yarn store in West Hartford on LaSalle Road called "sit 'n knit."
