I cut out my fabric yesterday, but I used fray check on 2-3 of the pieces and it discolored one drastically.  Does anyone know of any alternatives to fray check?

What's the fiber content of your fabric that discolored?

I is a cotton/poly broadcloth.  I don't remember the exact percentages of the two though.

That's what I suspected. The polyester content is the probable culprit. Imagine mixing fingernail polish with fingernail polish remover. That's basically what mixing polyester fabric and Fray Check is like. Some polymers just don't mix well. You might try using some diluted fabric glue in place of the Fray Check. There would be a longer drying time, but it would be less likely to discolor your fabric.

I still haven't started, trying to decide on the right dimensions.

I'm going up north this weekend and then to Atlanta for work next week. My ideas will have plenty of time to bounce around and gel. Hoping to really get to it next weekend!

Well I'm just ready for this week to be over!!!  I had tons of motivation to get to sewing, and something went wrong with my sewing machine...THEEEEEN. ..I was on my way to go pick my son up from school today, and was rear-ended, and the guy took off.  The real kicker is that I have an existing neck injury, so I am really hoping that I'll be able to move my head come tomorrow (FINGERS CROSSED!!!!).
