So. i am looking at the dolls in this gallery. then I am looking at the dolls in my hand. Then I am going 'panic panic panic' all over the place.

I will now spend the next week upscaling my downtrodden dolls!

Oh no, don't feel that way! My dolls are very different too and I didn't use new techniques. You do what you can, the gallery isn't the standard! And believe me that Leslie is a VERY GOOD matchmaker. She matches people that work and think at the same level! For sure you will make something your partner will love, you know what she likes and dislikes!

Don't worry! Lay it aside for a day and then take another look! Sometimes I need to get used to the look or whatever it is. I dislike what I made but after a day or so I can like it and can be proud of what I made. Sounds weird, maybe it works for you too!

I am a pretty good seamstress, if I may say so myself. But sewing a JJ-style doll is very different! I find it hard to make anything creepy looking and when I try to, it turns out to be more Picasso than JJ-style. Well, I tried and I have to admit that I suck at it, hahaha! That's okay! I will send it anyway, because I know my partner AIMY will see that I tried, will see the time and effort and will appreciate that.
Hey, I am not a professional artist by far! And I am way better at making cute things. That is just me!

Did it help? I do hope so!  Smiley

I can send you a picture of the doll I finished and the "Picasso-doll" if you think that might help!

AGREED! This works for anything creative: writing, doll making, puzzles, etc. Let it "rest" for a while, and then u can look at with fresh eyes.

I finished up my "small extra" and I have to say I have had really good feedback from the select few people I have shared the pics with  Wink I just hope Bunnie Boo loves it as much, although I have a feeling that she will be happy with it  Grin

The way I see it we are not in competition with each other in the swap but we do learn from what others produce. I'm a crafter not an artist (however much I would love to be!) so my contribution is more crafty and less arty than what WoC produced. I am grateful to WoC for sharing her techniques though and my next dolls might incorporate some of those techniques or some body parts on my work desk might  Grin

oh wendiek...I think this is not my style either, but I am glad to try a new style as I have learned a lot from everyone that I will try for other projects...my hubby says the dolls all look funny and ugly at the same time--fugly!  Kinda like some of my cats... Cheesy

I do enjoy seeing them because I recognize certain styles of our members...and for me, I would never think to compete with anyone...we are all awesome in our own way! Cheesy

Well, that sounds better! If you think you can do better, yes try! But if you feel you have come to the limits of your abilities, just accept that. We can't all be great artists, but we can try!

Thanks fellow-craftsters for all your positive comments! No, we don't compete with eachother! Unless you join a monthly challenge. That is why I love Craftster!

I am glad that our comments make you feel better!  Smiley

And AIMR, I like the sound of the doll being fugly, hahaha! I think my doll for you is the same thing! The oldest asked me if I made a mummy.. Mhhm, wasn't aiming for that! Can't see why he thinks that! But it does point out that the doll is odd  Cheesy
