So, first the hat in all it's monstrous glory:

Now the background:  For a local charity run, the Santa Speedo Sprint, donors who gave a set amount and mentioned it was for AASRD (my derby league) and mymonsterhat.com (a vendor of incredibly cool hand made monster hats, run by a ref of a neighbouring league) got a free monster hat.  My partner, who did not have the money to donate, was incredibly jealous of my hat.

Lying around the house we happened to have about half a yard of neon orange polar fleece left over from when i made him neon orange fleece hakama.  That's a long story that you probably don't want to hear.

He showed me a photo of the Orange Lantern, also known as Larfleeze, the lantern of Greed, and asked if i could reproduce that for his own hat.

It only took maybe 3 hours while we watched Warehouse 13 on xmas eve, so it was a fun day.

Two action shots, that do not show the true neon orange but give a sense of the spines and the tusks:

Cool hat (or warm actually). Now you can always spot him in a crowd  Grin
