Ok, this project has been more than six weeks in the making.  It is made entirely from scatch, no kit.  The back, sides and headstock are walnut. the front is silk spruce, the neck and bridge are mahogany, the fretboard is purpleheart, and the nut and saddle are ebony.  All of the splines on the inside are pine.

It has nine coats of shellac on it.

Anyway, here is my latest project, a ukulele.

It is gorgeous!  I love the back--the wood almost looks like zebra stripes!

Do you play or was it for someone else?

It's for me, and I don't play, but I guess I'm going to learn. Cheesy

The wood on the back is called quilted walnut, and when I cut the pieces, I bookmatched them.  That means that the two pieces were cut from the same slice of wood and one was reversed so they are mirror images of each other.

Wow!  That ukulele is gorgeous Pinokeeo!  I'm going to show it to my hubby when he gets home.  He'll be so jealous!  Handmade ukuleles are the best.  I'm still trying to finish my cigar box uke.  Smiley

That ukulele is amazing. You should give it it's own thread if you haven't already.
