Sheepblue - I love your art!

Yikes - I seem to have misplaced February... just not sure where it went....

So, I finally finished a couple more projects (honestly I finished them earlier in the month but am just getting them posted now)

First, these are number magnets on a metal whiteboard that I made for a child of a friend of mine. To get the look, I painted the wood disks a light yellow and then when dry I painted them blue. Once that was dry I sanded the edges and took some of the blue color off, added the numbers and then used a spray resin on them.


I also made something for his sister. She likes hair accessories, so I made her a box to hold her hair pretties in.
(sorry for the messy table shots!)


I added ribbon on both sides so that she could put hair clips/bands that wouldn't fit into the drawers.


An action shot. You can just see inside the drawers - I painted the sided super glittery and put some brown velour type fabric on the bottom of the drawers.

ha ha Dawns--I gave until march 3rd or something to post last minute February items!   i know you guys too well...

love the little accessories box...and cool magnets as well....

I like the non-fabric theme... I have been wanting to try polymer clay and this may be the motivation to try it!

Sheepblue, what a wonderful piece of art, you are inspiring me to try raised painting too. I am wondering: do you start with an idea of what you want to create and create the art as you go or have you a clear and precise idea with drawings and you then do the art following almost exactly your plan?

yoopidou - With this particular piece I honestly had no idea of what I was doing as I was going along. When I found the butterfly in my stash and the stencils matched that it kind of shaped the look as I went but there were no hard fast rules to what I was doing. In other things I do plan a bit more though. But this was a lot of fun to just be free and play around with the textures and shapes. If you follow the link to the post I made, you can see how ugly it got at one point haha. Thankfully it's nothing a few splashes of this or that can't fix.

alwaysinmyroom - I have a question about the challenge.  I made something 2 or so weeks ago but I haven't been able to post it because I'm waiting on my partner to receive/post.   But it fits the March theme.   Does the challenge item only need to be posted in March or does it also have to be made in March?   Thanks!
