I too learned to crochet by making amigurumis. But that may be because I always try something way too difficult to make when learning a new craft. But now I am trying granny squares and other flat pieces and just can't figure them out! They end up so wavy and I can't weave in ends since amigurumis just hide the ends!

PaperBeau love the drawers and the pots. the drawers meant to be for desktop?

they sure are - probably only 8 inches high in total, I think they originally came with make up in them..

how did you all learn to knit and crochet? You seem so quick! Everyone has so many projects done and they are all looking so lovely and I'm just doing a steady 2 rows of a blanket a day!!

OH, do photos count as craft? If so I took some lovely ones out on the beach yesterday: http://paperbeau.weebly.com/3/post/2013/01/a-trip-to-falmouth-swanpool-beach.html

but I wont count it as one of my 50!

gorgeous photos PaperBeau!

Crochet is something I've never been able to master for some reason which is too bad since it seems so much faster to finish a project!  Ami's are like magic to me, I love seeing them on Craftster!

Kookaloo_Starr,is it hat day? Do you make a soft and warm beanie to whomever asks you? In that case, I might ask too!

tinybits, your blanket looks very soft and warm.

PaperBeau, nice colors on your pea pots.

goktrose, Totoro is cute.

Yoopidou today has most certainly been a hat day  Grin My crochet wand defaults to "hat" when I can't think of what else to do *lol* I make hats for almost everyone who asks me but I don't always get round to making them straight away. I'm very stressed today and the hats are helping me calm down.

PaperBeau, my Mum taught me the basics of knitting when I was 9 years old but I never really got past basics until last year when I taught myself to make socks and to cable  Cheesy
I'm a self taught crocheter and can't recommend YOUTUBE enough  Grin

Only looking at pictures I still had 6 1/2 pages to go through to catch up.  Awesome stuff everyone. The amazing thing is this is still January!

 So many inspiring projects.
