Try plain charcoal brickets (not Matchlight or ones with lighter fluid). Leave in the closed trunk for about a week. The charcoal should absorb the odors. Then you can still use the charcoal for its original purpose afterwards without harm.

I use sealer and/or fixative on my stuff all the time when its cold since I can't get away from the -20C for half the year.  All I do is stand on the deck and spray fast then bring it in to dry.  although sometimes I forget to take note of the wind and overspray my parka, the house siding and my poor deck ;

Yay! Thanks for letting me know that it wouldn't destroy my work. I am going to go spray them tonight!

So I was glancing around the terror that is my crafting space. Everything is stuffed in bags and boxes from when I moved out for college 3 yrs. ago, and it is quite the daunting project to get it organized, especially with no budget for shelves or bins. However, I have this pretty large trunk, which is a horrible green color. It has a pressed wood inside, and I used to store my winter items in it. However, it leaves everything smelling musty. I wanted to use it to store my growing fabric stash, but I'm not sure how to solve this problem. I don't want to have nasty smelling fabric. Any advice for this issue?

Take 3-4 small cups, half fill them with baking soda and a few drops each of an essential oil like mint or lavender and shut them in your trunk for a week or 2 then air it out.  You can take the baking soda mix and pour it in a tightly woven sock and tie it off then leave it in the bottom of the trunk as you use it.

Argh....I'm working on a long overdue WIP for the challenge (pretty sure it was on my 2011 list! ) but since it's gotten shuffled around so much I spend more time detangling the ball of yarn than I do actually crocheting!  Not to mention that the recipient of the blanket has since moved from Wisconsin to Florida and probably no longer needs a throw blanket, but it's the principle of the thing.  Plus it gets the yarn out of my house.

I think I am going to try both the charcoal and the baking soda methods to see if I can get some of the mustyness out of our basement closets...  We had a flood a few years ago and even though it was cleaned up, I can still smell it!
