Thank you for the info on the wool dryer balls - would just using merino tops work? I know it sounds wasteful to those who felt (me included) but got some that I've had a while and its all started to felt to itself so really difficult to use.

I've used just roving for dryer balls and that worked fine.

I feel like I'm cheating with the challenges.  Most everything I make is for me, so January was easy, and it's mostly fabric, so February's probably in the bag too.    Not really complaining, it's just kind of funny to me.

I did the sc edging using the 8mm hook I used for the rest of the hat and it fits fine and feels nice - no headache from a tight band round my head!

I'm excited for the February challenge, because I have been putting off two projects and they just happen to be made of fabric. Finally dragged out my hamper of fabric last night to start on them! So awesome!

For these dryer balls, I just used some scraps of felted (fulled?) sweaters for the center core, then wrapped it in some wool yarn I got on sale at hobby lobby.  I tied them up in a sock that had lost its mate, and ran it through the washer a couple of times (with the laundry).
