Well, I just went back and counted all the projects that I have done this year.  If I count each item, I am well over 100 so far this year.  Happy for that.  WooHoo.

I'm always torn about how to count things I make in multiples.  I'd be well over myself if I did it that way.

Which is why you never see it in my count.  I think that while I'm there, it doesn't really matter how many I make.  It just makes me feel good to know what I have accomplished this year.

I still have a couple of projects to go to actually reach my 50.

Last year I didn't count anything in multiple, and I even counted two skirts that took 30 hours each as one project - but there are plenty of single projects that take 60+ hours, so...  that's not unreasonable, and it's hard to decide.  This year I went with individual counting, as long as each piece took more than about an hour.  Partly because I don't always do things all at once, so one time I'd count 13 blood drops as one project, but next time I'd make a single one for someone and that was a project... I though the individual counting was more consistent, and that appeals to my engineering side!

I've kind of ended up with the same system.  If I make them in a batch it is one project.  If I make it by itself it is a project.

That's probably a better system of keeping track.  Once I make something, I don't count it when I remake, even though it's a new project.  I might have to rethink my system.

Anyway, I have a couple more projects in process, so when I finish, I can post more pictures, and I think I'll make my 50 this year.

I've decided to go with "if it can stand alone as a project it counts".  It seems to make the most sense for my stuff.

So a hat would be one. Three hats would be three. One blanket square doesn't count, but enough squares for a blanket do count.

The only time a project is a stand-alone is if I make only one of something.  Otherwise, no matter how long it takes me, I count the whole batch as one project.

CRAFT CHALLENGE

Ok, sorry for the back-to-back posts, but I finished this ornament and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  This is carved from a 4X4X4 chunk of basswood.  I carved the whole thing with carving knives, gouges and swiss files.  The heart in the middle was from an old necklace.  There are eight rays in this carving.

Wow is right....the wood ornament is fabulous!

bookstorebabe--wow...your mirrors are becoming quite ornate!  I love how they are made of recycled stuff and transformed...those kind of projects amaze me when they turn out so lovely!

Kookla_star and ladybugs--I think it is wonderful that you both think of children in harsh weather!  Your hats are not only practical but cute and will make any child happy!

Can't wait to see your ornament tree, QNM--it will be fun and different!

Congrats to all who hit their own personal goal of projects completed!  I think however you want to count is fine...I like that there are different methods.  My method has sort of been how I have to take the picture...if more than one can fit in a picture, then I count it as one project (multiples, mostly)...but you guys are right...a HUGE, time consuming project will definitely limit your count, but who cares?  You made it!!!  Finishing a huge project is a HUGE accomplishment!
