Always, WOW!  That is amazing. I didn't know what a Zonian was so I looked it up.

Smeddley, That is one heck of an outfit!

I'm busy crafting for the holiday swap so hopefully I'll have something to share from that!

I loved Panama and still have a bunch of friends there...I have tons of stuff that I want to make using the native crafts, ie. molas...I did a lot of beadwork that I learned from the Kuna Indians...I also learned to sew clothing there...It was a place that influenced me greatly in crafting and other things like surfing, scuba diving, etc.

Love molas! Was lucky enough to get one when a friend's dh was stationed in the Zone and they were living there. Imagine how much attention 3 blue-eyed blondes received living there.

I love molas too!  I hope to visit there someday.  I bet alot has changed since my mom was there over 50 years ago.

One of my best Panamanian friends was a blue-eyed blonde Latina...They are sort of like our country...I went to school with Chinese, African, Arab, Australian, Canadian, etc. kids...our classes were taught in Spanish and English simultaneously...

I am going to be working on some Panamanian projects the next few weeks...I am excited to show them to you guys as the "native" art is so wonderful and colorful!  I bought a bunch of parrot/bird panels...if I post a picture, maybe you guys could help me decide what to make with them.

PS.  Still working on the old challenge and the new one...

So far, November/December

1. Continue holiday themed projects
2. Fall Colors--red, orange, brown, gold, etc.
3. Something warm (if you are in Northern Hem...opposite if you are in the Southern Hem...to be fair Wink )
4. Comfort foods or family tradition recipes
5. Continue a push for the WIPs to be completed!
6. Anyone reaching 50 or more projects will get an extra chance to win

Very true.  My mom went to school with alot of diplomat's kids.  She was taught by German nuns who spoke English.  She spoke Chinese at home and Spanish on the streets.  I can't wait to see what you are making Always!

I never realized Panama was so diverse. Thanks for the insight!

AIMR - can't wait to see what you're up to with your bird panels. Like the range of options for our next challenge, especially the wips. I've added new projects this year, but I haven't cleared very many of my existing projects. Undecided

Right now, I am organizing my WIPS so that I can get a bunch done before next year...it would be nice to start the year fresh...

Do we want to continue this next year or should we shorten it to 25 projects? Grin

My last finish for October.  The much beloved/hated Amy Butler Weekender bag.
I changed a few things, I used 2 different fabrics on the outside, one of them being laminated to that it could be wiped down.  I lengthened the handles and I added pockets to the inside.  It definitely is time consuming and can be hard to manuver on the sewing machine.  It's for my stepdaughter to take on trip.

It was hard to get a good picture of the inside
