Youpidou - Love the creativity of those tiny houses. DD #1 was in that swap so I know how tiny and challenging it was to make something that small.

Deathbeforedishes - Cute Captain America, and that dress looks like a perfect fit. How are you going to use the embroidered seasonal panels?

Carolmb - Don't know where you find the time for all the sewing you do. Maybe that's why it's taken 10 years to get around to making the tree skirt! LOL  Really like those matching stockings.

Whee!  More project, sorry for the picture-dump.  The Summer Nerd Games are wrapping up, so I have a bunch of things I've been working on.

First up, my long-neglected art... more Lifebook lessons...

96. My "Ideal House":

97. Painting over a letter to myself:

98. This one was interesting... it was supposed to be "ugly", as in letting ourselves slop paint and be messy and end up with something that looked like a blindfolded squid painted.  I hated mine so much I put a layer of gesso over it and painted something else, which probably says something about hiding the darker part of my nature or whatever.  But that's not the interesting part.  The interesting part is that the first step in the lesson was to write down a bunch of bad, negative words, and I used some of my friend's super-special something markers.  Which rose up through five layers of paint and two layers of gesso to still show in the lighter areas!  Eeeep!

99. Quirky Birds

100. Force Hoopla:

101. Crochet Pi

102. "It's not easy being green (tea)" wallet

103. Monster Superhero art:

Deathbeforedishes, lovely cross stitch and dress.

Smeddley, I like the painting of your ideal house although it's a bit isolated for my taste.

Final push for the Nerd Games!

104- Phi Mug Rug

105 - Stitch Markers for alwaysinmyroom (if she wants them)

106 - Chicken Egg Cozy - Don't count your chickens before they're hatched
Brief Description: Growing up, we had a chicken egg cozy with a real egg in it that certainly never hatched!  It was so dried inside you could hear it rattling around in the egg.  That cozy and egg moved with us so many times (at least 15 years worth!), and I'm sad now that I can't remember when it stopped being on the counter, though I remember hearing that it did break, finally, and that it was so dessicated it didn't even smell.  This pattern isn't as pretty as I remember ours being, but it's a temporary stand-in.  I think I'll try to design something that looks more like what's in my memory... at some point...

107 - Eyeballs!
Brief Description: Continuing on my quest for a knitted zombie costume, I tried out two different eyeball patterns - one much larger than the other.  I'll probably use them both, though in different areas.  I haven't decided if I want to have one hanging on red yarn from my eye (which would require having an eyepatch/closed eye the whole time) or have them dangling from my hairsticks, or be chewing on one... I'll decided when I have more of the costume made!

108 -  Dice Roller Prototype
Brief Description: Okay, this is an ugly project, I admit - but we'll blame that on the engineer in me.  Functional, not pretty.  Besides, I want to test drive the dimensions before I make a final version, and see if the cardboard will really hold up or if I'll have to use wood.  The one I saw in the game store was just cardboard with a castle print, but it was shorter.  So far it seems to work, we'll see if I get good rolls with it or if I have to re-design it...  Wink

The hen egg cozy is very cute. Apart from looking good, what exactly is the point of an egg cozy?

I'll be honest, I have no idea!  It was always just a piece of kitchen decor in our house...

Egg cosies were meant to be used to keep boiled eggs warm, especially soft-boiled eggs. Egg cups held the eggs in an upright position, then the covers kept them warm until breakfast was served. A special scissor-like tool would be used to slice the top of the shell off, then the interior of the egg would be spooned out to be eaten. Much more elaborate than most of us would bother with today.
