July/August Challenge entry--Summer/Beachy

I made these towel roll ups for our beach trip yesterday! Sorry the roll up shot is dark, I was finishing them to last minute the night before, so no good lighting.

They worked great!

Love the dresses and all the wonderful stitching!  Smiley

I've been busy getting ready for Otokon...besides the Steampunk jewelry I made some simple tees last night for all of us...I was going to put gears in there too, but I decided that simple was nice too.  The tables were assigned by lottery so DH and I both applied.  He got in and I didn't which is why we'll be using the name Steampunked instead of my name.  LOL.

Awesome stuff guys. Honestly I feel like I fell into a black hole of "working too much" and "can't possibly comment on everything" so I gave up and went to stalking for a while. But even having less time to craft lately, I love how inspiring everyone has been. And now I do have some things to share!

Bunny1kenobi asked me to play in the latest Make a Friend swap so here are somethings I made for her that she has now received.

A Study in Texture Canvas - CHALLENGE QUALIFIED - New decoration to adorn her walls
Bunny expressed a love for a vintage aesthetic, steampunk, and archaeology so I made her some art that is inspired by all of those things and of course influenced by my love of texture. It was really hard not to crazy with the color palette, and pretty difficult to take pictures of actually.

Another thing I made her...
A mixed media assemblage wall hanging - CHALLENGE QUALIFIED - more art to adorn her walls
This was inspired more to the point from her love of steampunk. Made mostly from stuff I already had on hand - I did allow myself to splurge a bit which includes the cute little bird charm.

I also made some TM patches for Bunny based on her loves. My favorite is the Tudor rose...its simple but lovely. The skull is a memento mori patch based on the description of a watch that Mary, Queen of Scot used to wear, which was described as a "giant silver skull" (memento mori is a term used to reference an artistic or symbolic reminder that death is inevitable - you see it a lot in art), and the rune tablet is based off of one that Bunny pinned.

And lastly, swapping aside, I made a new Doctor Who bag, with new patches I haven't made before (what a concept!).
