Paperbeau, your jeans rug will last forever! And it must be washable too. It looks nice. Was it long to make?

probably an hour (a distracted two) to rip the strips and make into a ball of jarn.. then 2 hours to knit up. It is machine washable, I gave it a go already. And it has a lovely rough feeling on your feet.

I think it would work well crocheted, you should try and let me know! A warning to perfectionists (well two or three) - use as thin strips as you can manage while still being able to join them together a la join 1 here, and don't use any seams of the jeans, these add bulk in odd areas and you end up with a lovely but imperfect rug!

I tried it making coffee syrup based on this thread - and it was DELICIOUS!

also I'm now over half way into my 50 projects - feeling very happy, since when September arrives, I'll have a LOT less time.

Wonderful craftiness, everyone! I'm starting to get the crafting itch again. Not that the itch ever left, but depression, apathy, etc. kinda killed any brief moments of "Ohhh... I want to make something". I've got so much to do, but I think I'm going to attempt painting first. Because I want to see if I can actually paint on the canvas paper I bought for a painting class and couldn't get anything to turn out. Need to figure out if it was the paper or myself. If me: I'm a little better now. If the paper: I can give it away.

Eclectic Dreamer, I can empathize with you saying depression killed the ability to create.  I have suffered from that for some time, but have been trying to pull out of it by joining some swaps and joining the nerd-along.  So I want to encourage you to try, even in a small way, if you do have at least the intellectual impulse to create, if not the inspiration.  I like to believe inspiration, desire, and ability will come, if we encourage them.  Smiley

Another thing that will help get you through the non-craftiness is to look at what others are doing.  Find something that inspires you here, on Pinterest, on Etsy, or wherever.  Don't make, just look.  I had to do this last year when I could not craft.  It kept me going until I could get back to making things.

ED, hang in there.  When I get in a slump I do simple, easy, small things so that I can get an immediate sense of satisfaction.  It works everytime to get me outta my crafting slump!

When I get in a crafting slump, I organize my craft supplies (not that they stay organized...) and look at what other people have done, like others  have suggested. I also like to doodle silly little things on random bits of paper.

Eclectic Dreamer I went nearly 5 yrs without so much as making a cross stitch bookmark. I would look at all my stuff and then simply not feel like doing a thing.  I was not in a very good frame of mind.  What I finally ended up doing was picking up a bit of paper and doodling it wasnt anything for anyone or anything that really came out to be anything. It was emptying my head.

After that over the next year things started coming slowly

hope you find yourself, and sure you will in time. we do it just takes time

well and wonderment
